Dr Shibley Rahman's PerspectivesEdit

This page doesn't fit into any single category. It is because I have had an extremely eventful life, including a two month coma due to meningitis in 2007, successfully treated in a North London Hospital. This rendered me disabled, so I am enormously passionate about promoting disability issues, including those receiving the DLA in the new "Big Society". As I am in recovery from alcoholism for 22 months, I love to share my experiences with others. I passionately feel the medical profession, especially the GMC, do not understand sick doctors. and it is important for the reputation of the profession it does show an understanding of fellow doctors. I am accomplished myself, having written extensively on dementia, where I am now a world expert in behavioural variant frontotemporal dementia. Unusually, I combine this with an interest in law (in which I have nearly two degrees, my Bachelors and Masters), project management (I am PRINCE2 qualified), and business (I will commence a MBA in January 2011). Finally, I have a number of other interests which are dear to my heart; the Labour Party, for which I've voted all my adult life. I am only 36, and active member of the Labour Party, the Fabians, Compass and Progress.
